The SM18B Survival Machete Bayonet© was designed to be a Survival Challenge Tool, (SCT). A SCT is a tool that you bring on a Survival Adventure and only allow yourself to bring 1 tool, (or knife or limited gear); as to increase the challenge and to get more proficient using only that one tool.
The SM18B has several features that will aid in survival or outdoor living:
Blade is 18” long with weight forward, deep belly design for efficient chopping. Made from 1095 HC steel, hardened to 58C,. Uses: Shelter building and raft building.
Spur Knife ©, general small utility blade near handle, enables precision carving, game processing, and piercing out of an 18” long blade machete. US patent pending. Another Original Panacea X Innovation.
Curve on main blade right before deep belly. Uses: helps cut round objects like vines or ropes.
Draw knife section near handle. Uses: for shaping bows, and carving wood.
Flat section on main belly of the blade for scraping. Making tinder, or this section could be dulled for scraping hides.
Five inch long “90 degree sharp”, section of spine at the tip for battening, hand hold for scraping, and for scraping ferro rods, etc.. Read more below…
Progressive saw tooth spine. (Another Original Panacea X Innovation). Smaller saw teeth near the handle allow for more precision saw work to be done. (Example: shorten a bow drill spindle). Larger teeth allow cutting larger branches or trees more efficiently. Panacea X saw teeth are sharpened, we have the best performing saw back machete in the industry. The teeth on the SM18B are “set” so that the kerf is wider than the blade which reduces binding. Sawing with a good saw is more efficient, energy wise, than chopping.
Large jimp section with small jimp teeth to provide the best traction for your thumb while carving.
Available with a G10 handle machined with a bow drill divot.
Blade is available in two weights or thicknesses. Medium, 1/8” (.125”, 3.175mm) and Light 1/6”+ (.070”, 1.778mm)
Also available with removable American black walnut wood grips.
Comes with a Cardura nylon sheath with a Kydex liner. MOLLE compatible. Velcro belt loop; can be attached or removed from your belt without taking off your belt.
